Auxilium was founded in 1999 by a group of young university students from a small village called Senise, in Basilicata, a region in southern Italy. Their main goal was to help disadvantaged people in need. Over time, Auxilium has become one of the most important social cooperatives in Italy. It provides a wide range of services that can improve the lives of thousands of people in need thanks to the tireless efforts of 1,600 people, and 1,000 of whom are also members of the cooperative.

Auxilium’s long-standing history is evidenced by its many areas of activity, which include services for the physically and mentally disabled, elderly care and support services for the elderly, reception of immigrants and their integration into the community and home and in-hospital care. Our approach is based on the idea that each person must be cared for individually by learning as much as possible about their lives and experiences. This vision has shaped our work since the founding of Auxilium and is also the method underlying all our activities, past and present. We have also been able to successfully adapt our services according to the specific and ever-changing situations we have had to face in the Italian society.
